During harsh times of winter we harbor great depths of sorrow and pain. Our essence awaits hope, and shelters the pain, welcoming rivers of fire, ice and snow. Only through the frost bitten depths of winter's grasp, will we find release, and the excruciating reality of sorrow and grief will become only a frozen memory. Lost in time.

Archaic Winter's history can be traced back as far as the early 1990s. The music is the aftermath of guitarist Gregory's many failed attempts at creating music with other musicians in the local area. After years of dealing with the tribulations and idiosyncrasies of fellow band members, It became obvious that creating music in a traditional band setting with other musicians would only lead to disappointment and ultimately become counter productive. Unfortunately, all of Gregory's past musical endeavors have died untimely deaths. Gregory realized this and has decided that a studio project would be less of a risk and would satisfy his inner desire to compose music.

Gregory met death metal vocalist/guitarist Peter Hasselbrack and spent a short stint in his brutal death band Bloodsoaked. Peter has been around the metal underground for years as owner and operator of Bloodsoaked Records. Bloodsoaked became a two man band but the realities of life would intervene and Peter had to make unexpected changes in his personal life. And thus, because of unanticipated scheduling conflicts, Peter is now working on the Bloodsoaked project as a one man act. But, it was this turn of events that would ultimately give life to Archaic Winter.

Archaic Winter is the work of two individuals who love and have a great respect for metal and the metal lifestyle. Greg and Peter have managed to create the sounds of Archaic Winter despite the trials and tribulations of life. With practically no rehearsal time, Greg and Peter used technology neither musician possessed in the past. It has taken hours of hard work and dedication but life has been given to the frost bitten mayhem of Archaic Winter!

Archaic Winter draws upon Death Metal influences mixed with Blackish Doom. Archaic Winter's brand of metal is groove laden yet aggressive, laced with elements of Anger, Sorrow and Pain! The music is straight forward and in your face. The vocals are delivered in an aggressive and punishing death assault with lyrics that focus on the harsh reality of death. In the future, the imagery of frost bitten nature will emerge. The imagery is a symbolic gesture of the cold reality that one day; each and every human on our miserable planet will crumble into the depths of death's grasp. Nature will renew itself each and every year as mankind marches into the last season of hope!
